Puszta Tour / Hungarian Great Plain - Central Hungary

Travelling an hour to the south of Budapest, you arrive to the largest flatland of Central – Europe, the Great Hungarian Plain called "Puszta" by the Hungarians. First stop is at the city of Kecskemét that is the cultural, economical and administrative centre of the county. The sights of the city are richly ornamented ecclesiastical and public buildings, built in the most different architectural styles as baroque, eclectic, romantic and art nouveau. The most famous of all is the City Hall built in the end of the 19th century. Every day before 11 o'clock visitors are getting excited, because something special is to happen on the main square: the City Hall's bells are ringing lovely melodies of the world famous Hungarian music teacher and composer, Zoltán Kodály.
After our short visit to the "Capital of the Puszta" we continue the excursion across the waste flatland passing by fertile, green corn fields, fruit gardens and wide pastures where cow herds are grazing, creating lovely and romantic scenery for the eyes. On arrival at the farm there will be a warm welcome by friendly women and men dressed in gorgeous Hungarian folk's costumes, offering a glass of brandy and typical home made cake to the guests. Right after a short brake we take you for a horse carriage-ride to have an imagination what the Puszta to the people here means; the feeling of freedom, the love of nature, the natural smell of grass and flowers – all these together… Returning to the tribune, there will be the presentation of the horse show. Talented riders show you different attractions with beautiful Hungarian horses, for example how a man rides 5 to 11 horses at the same time. A speaker will give informative explanation to each performance, photos can be taken and finally there will be riding opportunity. After the rich program, home made lunch accompanied by good wines and gipsy music will be waiting for you in the country tavern or "Csárda". Before departure you can have a look around in the courtyard and in the stables to caress the animals (ponies, donkey, horses, sheep, cats and dogs). After a memorable country day we return to Budapest.
This program is ideal for the lovers of nature and animals, especially families with kids but not recommended to guests with allergy to animals' hair.
